In November the Upper School will be participating in some exciting food-related events.

World Vegan Day

We are supporting World Vegan Day on the 1 November by having a totally vegan lunch menu:

Tomato and basil soup
Sweet potato, butternut squash curry
Vegan chocolate brownies

7 November

Sally the nutritionist from Holroyd Howe will be holding an assembly for pupils to grasp the benefits of a balanced diet and how valuable it is to maintain.

In line with this theme, pupils will be put into small groups and challenged on which group can make a guacamole dip the fastest. The pupils will be encouraged to see how easy and quick it is to have a healthy snack made from scratch, rather than buying something pre-made that is processed and full of additives.

Chef Tables

Towards the end of the month, Filipe, Chef Manager will be putting on a generous spread for the Tasting Tester Table. This will feature an array of different types of food, cooked in different ways but will all include the same one ingredient. This month the taster tables will be beetroot on 16 November and sweet potato on 23 November.

Although pupils may have tried these ingredients before, this is an opportunity for them to explore the featured ingredient in a number of different ways, including in foods where you would not expect them to be!
