3rd & 4th January 2012: Study Mornings for Years 6 & 8 pupils
As usual we will be running these popular and beneficial study classes ahead of the start of term for the pupils of Yr 6 and Yr 8. All attendees should arrive in good time, uniform is not required for these sessions though the pupils should be presentable.

Pupils should bring their usual pencil case and equipment as for a normal day.

Snacks are also allowed though they must all be nut free.

These sessions will run from 9.00 am to 12.30 pm. Please ensure that pupils are on time and do not arrive late as this can cause unnecessary disruption to the others who are already there.

Swimming Success
On Friday 25th November the ESS Swim team swam against Bute House School, at their own pool in Hammersmith. From the moment the gala started, the team set an incredibly high standard.

We won almost every single individual race! The competitive team spirit mounted even more towards the end during the relay races. The swimmers swam like they have never swam before as we knew the results were going to be so close.

We were so proud and excited to hear that we beat Bute House by five points. A true victory!

Well done to the following swimmers who took part:

Christmas Presents for Charity
In support of this year's chosen charity again, The Chase Shooting Star Children's Hospice, we will be collecting small Christmas gifts in all buildings to give to the children for this charity. The Shooting Star Children's Hospice has been running for six years and has supported more than 250 families. The hospice provides care, support and advice for children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families. These care services are offered free of charge to families, 365 days a year across the western half of London and North Surrey.

The charity has come up with a list of items that would make suitable gifts, which is on the back of this letter.

In order to help the charity to ensure that they are providing the children with gifts that their suited to their individual needs, we are asking that each wrapped gift is clearly labelled with a description of the item inside. Please ensure that the gifts are not too large in size, as we need to arrange to ship them to the Hospice. These gifts may be brought into School from Wednesday 30th November until Wednesday 13th December and placed under the Christmas trees in the following locations:

• The 28/30 Basement Hall
• No. 79 Foyer
• No. 29 Foyer

Going forward in January 2012 we would also like to support the Hospice's 'One Million 5p Challenge'. Each class will have an empty plastic water bottle in their classroom. We are asking each class to bring in any 5p coins they may have and to place them in the bottle. Our aim is to collect as many 5p coins as we can as a School to help the charity to reach their challenge of raising £50,000 to employ, train and equip a new Community Outreach Nurse.

Thank you in advance for your generous support.
