The Shooting Star Children's Hospice provides care, support and advice for children and teenagers with life-limiting conditions and their families.
This care is provided both at Shooting Star House and in the families' homes throughout the western half of London including the Kensington and
Chelsea community. Supporting over 250 families, Shooting Star's care services are based around the needs of the whole family, so as well as caring for the children and young people, there are activities for siblings and support groups for parents and grandparents. This has made a real difference to families who find themselves in unimaginable circumstances – helping them live life to the full by providing opportunities for fun and laughter, as well as helping them through the tougher times. It costs £3.5 million every year (£9,600 a day) to maintain these care services and with no long-term statutory funding, the majority of this comes from voluntary donations.
