We are firm believers that learning does not only take place in the classroom. It is our aim to challenge and develop each of the various intelligences that a child may have through the a variety of experiences. As a result, we have put together a programme of residential activities starting in Year Three and progressing each year until children leave us in Year Eight. These fantastic opportunities take place during the school term, are available to everyone and offer a chance to learn skills and values in a new and exciting setting.
These include the personal challenges and team building skills that are the focus of our outdoor pursuits programme in Year Three and the physical and linguistic benefits of the ski trips to the pretty savoyarde village of La Clusaz, In Years Four and Five. There are also wonderfully spiritual, intellectual and artistic pursuits on a classical tour of Rome and Sorrento in Year Six and the intra and interpersonal challenges of spending half a term totally immersed in French language whilst staying at the beautiful Chateau de Sauveterre in the South of France in Year Seven.
It was both Plato and Aristotle who place 'wonder' at the heart of Philosophy. Plato claiming, "the sense of wonder is the mark of a philosopher." Our 'learning through experience' programme embraces the philosophy that a Prep School should not only be about providing wonderful experiences but should also ensure there are experiences full of wonder!
