Year Three

Hindleap Warren Outdoor Adventure

In the summer term children in Year Three have the opportunity to go on a four day adventure to Hindleap Warren. This is an activity centre in the heart of the Ashdown Forrest, East Grinstead.

The activities enable children to develop their awareness of Science, Nature and the Environment. Activities include: Pond Dipping, Food webs, a Climbing Wall and Archery. One of the children’s favourite activities is the Forest Adventure. This involves finding a route through a section of the Ashdown Forrest. Through a combination of teamwork and individual perseverance the children develop their independence, thinking skills and friendships.

Evening activities include: swimming, toasting marshmallows over a campfire and playing with their friends in their rooms or on the football pitch.

For many children this is their first time away from home. After a week of fun activities, sharing a dormitory with friends, visiting the tuck shop, and singing around a campfire they can’t wait for their next school residential trip.

On the return home parents will discover that (along with the dirty washing!) their children’s independence, confidence and friendships have grown.
